Mentoring
At The Step Up Project, we believe every young person deserves someone in their corner. Our mentoring programs are built to support children, teens, and young adults in ways that make sense for where they’re at in life. From helping manage big emotions to building social skills, life skills, and independence, we create a safe space to learn, grow, and explore new opportunities. Whether it’s through conversations, activities, or community involvement, our mentors are there to guide, encourage, and celebrate each step forward.

Mentoring (ages 5-12)
Building Foundations
Our mentoring for children aged 5–12 focuses on creating a safe, supportive environment where they can develop social skills, emotional awareness, and confidence. Through play-based learning, creative activities, and gentle guidance, we help children navigate big feelings, build positive relationships, and develop the life skills that form the foundation for future growth.

Mentoring (ages 13-17)
Navigating Teenage Years
For young people aged 13–17, mentoring provides a trusted adult presence during one of life’s most challenging and exciting stages. We focus on supporting emotional regulation, decision-making, social connection, and building resilience. Sessions may include community activities, skill-building exercises, and conversations that empower teens to explore their identity, strengths, and future pathways.

Mentoring (ages 18-25)
Stepping Into Independence
Our mentoring for young adults aged 18–25 is designed to support the transition into adulthood. We help participants develop practical life skills, confidence in navigating work or study, and strategies for maintaining mental and emotional wellbeing. Whether it’s assistance with employment readiness, community engagement, or managing everyday responsibilities, our mentors walk alongside young adults as they step into greater independence.
*Mentoring with The Step Up Project is available to both NDIS-funded and privately paying clients. As a registered NDIS provider, we can support eligible participants through their NDIS plans, while also welcoming non-NDIS clients who can benefit from our tailored programs.*
